Someone's missing from Fraggle Rock

Never fear, it turned up on Bill Maher's show last night. The dean-ette of the White House press corps, Helen Thomas, put on a clinic of liberal patronage during Maher's usually watchable HBO chatfest, laughing at everything the painfully unfunny Eddie Griffin said (and she was about the only one).

As if she was following orders, Thomas lobbed one cliched bromide after another at the feckless Bushacrat imported for "balance." What we got was a template in American political conversation, full of speculation and conspiracy and light on substance.

Once again, liberals seem to be George W.'s best friends. Exhibit B: Alec Baldwin.

Cheney is a terrorist. He terrorizes our enemies abroad and innocent citizens here at home indiscriminately. Who ever thought Harry Whittington would be the answer to America's prayers. Finally, someone who might get that lying, thieving Cheney into a courtroom to answer some direct questions.

Hyperbole aside, Baldwin's naievete is breathtaking. Does he really think Whittington is going to take Dick Cheney to court over this, even if there's some reason he should? Aren't you supposed to overcome such wishful thinking at puberty?

Time to send the kids off to bed.
