I've pretended to give up smoking on a few occasions, but never really made the commitment. When I turned 30, I was convinced the time had come to quit, but I foolishly chose that day to install a DirectTV dish. It's not as easy as they tell you, and the stress from all that manual labor required a cigarette.
Ridiculous excuse, I'll grant you, but Sean Penn has one-upped me, saying he has been unable to kick the habit due to the "stress" caused by living under the Bush Administration. Actually, I understand: every time I see the Simpson sisters on TV, I can't help but reach for a smoke.
