An obituary in the Boston Globe one day last week caught my eye. It was for a 35-year-old man who had suffered for years with multiple sclerosis and who had campaigned until the end for increased stem cell reasearch. He was also a devout Catholic and when he had been asked how he reconciled his religion with his support of stem cell research, he replied, "God works in mysterious ways. How do we know He isn't working through these scientists and showing them the way to cure many of our most devastating illnesses?"
Same thing Mr. Galilei was thinking centuries ago (and was imprisoned for heresy because of...).
